With Medicare and Medigap, everything is divided into letter-based categories, such as Part A and Part B.  Medigap drug benefits are often called Medicare Part D, but there are several other ways to purchase Medicare supplements.  The plan you end up buying will all depend on the level of prescription drug coverage you need.

For example, like every other Medicare supplement, Medigap drug benefits include a predetermined level of coverage.  While they may be sold by private insurance companies, these plans cannot differ from one another in terms of coverage.  The only thing that changes is the price.
